Supportive Friends: The Magic Earth Theatre Society has kindly made the foyer of Centrestage available to Friends of the Mahurangi during the River Magic season.

Yesterday, the curtain went up on the Magic River, a show that uses dance, drama and puppets to tell the story of our local rivers.

Follow the adventures of the raindrops as they journey down the Mahurangi River in the company of Tree Guardian and Lily. Meet the magical creatures living in and beside the river and in the estuary. You will see koura, eels, birds and fishermen as well as some of the more unpleasant things that end up in the river such as slime, silt and diesel.

This show presents an environmental message in an entertaining manner and reintroduces us to Lily and Tree Guardian who were in last year’s production the Magic Tree.

The cast is made up a children and adults from the Warkworth and Matakana areas. The creative process is driven by the cast and the children have been involved with the development of the script, in designing and creating their own costumes and dance routines and making the puppets.

The show is suitable for all the family and will be a great holiday treat.
